Esther King's Obituary
Esther King, age 81, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 8:16 p.m. at Marshall Browning Hospital Emergency Room, DuQuoin, IL. Esther was born on December 14, 1933 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Dedrich and Thelma (Morrisey) Hamburger. In July of 1950, she married Robert P. King in Murphysboro, IL and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church, DuQuoin, IL where she taught bible school, Sunday school and was in the choir. Esther had worked as a cook and the dietary supervisor at Marshall Browning Hospital, DuQuoin, IL retiring after 22 years of service. She loved taking care of her family, attending church and cooking for different church functions. Survivors include two sons, Perry (Diane) King of Tamaroa, IL and Brian (Mary) King of DuQuoin, IL; a daughter, Debbie (Louis) Brosch of Osage City, KS; three brothers, Wayne (Amanda) Hamburger of Herrin, IL, Bill Hamburger of DuQuoin, IL and Galen (Kathy) Hamburger of Tamaroa, IL; seven grandchildren, Jason (Kim) King, Robert King, Alicia Larkin, Hilary (Ryan) Heape, Keith Brosch, Daniel Brosch and Christopher Brosch; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Hamburger. Funeral services will be held at Gospel Assembly Church, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Mark Norris officiating. Interment will be in Old DuQuoin Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL. Friends may call at Gospel Assembly Church, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Gospel Assembly Church or American Cancer Society.
