Ervin E. Bird's Obituary
Ervin E. Bird, age 80, of Swanwick, IL, passed away in his home on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 7:59 p.m., surrounded by his loving family.
Ervin was born on July 31, 1943 in Percy, IL, a son to Theodore and Zella (Caldwell) Bird. For 31 years he was employed by World Color Press at Spartan Printing. On April 17, 1964, he married Shirley Hall at Beaucoup Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, IL. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conant, IL, The Eagles in Pinckneyville, IL, and the Graphic Communications Conference (GCC). Ervin enjoyed farming, sitting outside in his rocking chair, and spending time with his family, especially with his girls.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Bird of Swanwick, IL; three daughters, Rhonda (Raymond) Noel of Nashville, IL, Theresa (Paul) Thies of Swanwick, IL, and Katie (Jason) Koen of Steeleville, IL; one brother, Toby (Denise) Bird of Swanwick, IL; five grandchildren, Matthaus "Matt" (Danielle) Harre of Nashville, IL, Jonathan "Jon" (significant other, Chelsea Stockwell) Harre of Nashville, IL, Kary Hargis of Steelville, IL, Leah (significant other, Devin Kitchen) Thies of St. Louis, MO, and Matthew (Sarah) Carley of Champaign, IL; and seven great-grandchildren, Jackson Harre, Emmalynn Harre, Logan Harre, Juliette Harre, Jonathan Carley, Issac Carley, and Lily Carley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donnie Bird and Teddy Bird; one sister, Shirley Segelhorst; and nephew Larry Segelhorst.
A visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conant, IL on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service to follow with Pastor David Kollmeyer officiating. Interment will be at Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL.
Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Conant, IL.
