Erma E. Erwin's Obituary
Erma E. Erwin, age 97, of Pinckneyville, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 5:40 p.m., with her family by her side, in Marshall Browning Hospital, DuQuoin, IL.
Erma was born on March 30, 1925, in Perry County, IL, a daughter to Warren and Rose Elizabeth (Kellerman) Reidelberger. On November 23, 1940, she married John Wendell "Red" Erwin in Cape Girardeau, MO. After 60 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on November 6, 2000. She and Wendell owned and operated Erwin Florist in Pinckneyville, IL and Erwin Wholesale and Greenhouse in Tamaroa, IL. Erma was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, Florists Transworld Delivery, and Teleflora since 1940, and Royal Neighbors. They wholesaled flowers in Southern Illinois until the wholesale business closed in 1999. Erma was well known in the community and will be dearly missed by all.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Steve) Biby of Pinckneyville, IL; three grandchildren, John "Jay" Erwin of Tamaroa, IL, Kevin (Richel) Biby of Pinckneyville, IL, and Elizabeth (Ryan) Cheek of Pinckneyville, IL; and six great-grandsons, John Erwin, Ethan Cheek, Grant Biby, Evan Cheek, Garrett Biby, and Eli Cheek; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, John Wendell "J.W." Erwin; granddaughter, Stephanie Elizabeth Biby; one brother, Melvin (Pat) Reidelberger; and two sisters, Velma (Gene) Satterfield, and Zelma Davis.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Jay Lowder and Reverend Steve Satterfield officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL.
The visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
