Erla A. Jenkel's Obituary
Erla A. Jenkel, age 89, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 6:50 p.m. in Parkway Manor, Marion, IL. Erla was born on October 31, 1927 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to William Howard and Gertrude M. (Jones) Watts. On July 13, 1944, she married Dean Jenkel in Chester, IL and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1998. Erla was a member of Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, crocheting and vacationing with her husband. She will always be fondly remembered as a wonderful mother. Survivors include six children, Howard (Carmen) Jenkel of Kingsland, TX, Mary (Don) Kinstler of Marion, IL, David (Kelli) Jenkel of Grand Junction, CO, Donna (Ray) Hepp of Ava, IL, Larry (Doreen) Jenkel of Benton, IL and Steven (Kelley) Jenkel of Springvale, ME; thirteen grandchildren, Michelle Jenkel of Pinckneyville, IL, Kimberly Jenkel of Marion, IL, Lisa (Matthew) McGlinn of Benton, IL, Howard Benjamin Jenkel of Dwight, IL, Kathryn (Bart) Ferrero of Madison, MS, Sharon (Seth) Walters of Marion, IL, Lucas (Chenoa) Jenkel of Grand Junction, CO, Earl (Jennifer) Jenkel of Grand Junction, CO, Holli (Shanon) Secrest of Grand Junction, CO, Drew (Christy) Jenkel of Kissimmee, FL, Betsy (Matthew) Wilson of Springfield, IL, Timothy Jenkel of Albany, NY and Mary Beth Jenkel of South Portland, ME; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Zach Meyer, Riana McGlinn, Joshua McGlinn, Garrison Ferrero (fiancé, Anna Pope), Shane Ferrero, Elizabeth Ferrero, Noah Walters, Zachary Walters, McKenna Walters, Oliver Miles Jenkel, Saylor Secrest, Calvin Jenkel, Alexander Jenkel, Samantha Jenkel and Zachary Jenkel. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean Jenkel; two brothers, Berthel Watts and Loyd Watts; and one sister, Beulah Marlow. Funeral Service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
