Eris Marie Ogilvie's Obituary
Eris Ogilvie left this world like she did everything else, in her own sweet time, on April 22nd 2022. She was born Eris Marie Woodside on July 24th 1923 to Harold & Anna (Heineke) Woodside. In her true stubborn fashion she knew someone must have gotten it wrong so she celebrated her birthday every year on July 25th.
She received the Navy E Award Pin for her work on the Proximity VT Fuze at the McQuay-Norris Defense Plant during WWII. She was a proud organizer & member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union Local 383 laboring at the Pinckneyville Garment Factory and the Bridal Original Dress Factory. A seamstress by trade and in her heart, she spent her life continually stitching our family back together. She gave great hugs, always had time to visit, to hem your pants, and to tell you how you should have done it in the first place. Her faith reminded her 'less was more' except when it came to fabric and pie, you could never have too much of those things.
Eris was preceded in death by her parents Harold & Anna (Heineke) Woodside, her beloved brothers who could do no wrong, Clyde Woodside, Millard Woodside, Irl Woodside, John Woodside, Wilmer "Bill" Woodside, Roland "Dale" Woodside, dearest sisters Gertrude Birchler, Theo Woodside, Cleo O'Brien, Charlotte Fritz, June Vuichard, two precious sons, Sidney Blaine Ogilvie and Patrick Lee "Rick" Ogilvie, and one daughter-in-law, Danne Sue Ogilvie.
Eris made a vow early on to avenge herself by living long enough to be a problem to her children, she succeeded in the best way. She is survived by son, Michael Ogilvie, daughter, Patricia Kary, one sister, Joan Birchler, sisters-in-law, Alberta Woodside and Linda Woodside, grandchildren, James Ogilvie, Shane Ogilvie, Aaron Ogilvie, Shonnon Kary, Jessica Ogilvie, Sybil Kary, and the golden child, Eric Ogilve (we all know he was her favorite), ten great-grand-children; three great-great-grandchildren, and cherished nephew Wyatt Woodside.
She is undoubtedly somewhere with the pedal to the floor and sorting scraps for her next quilt. We will miss her wit, wisdom, and homemade bread. In Lieu of flowers please eat a piece of pie, maybe two, just eat the whole thing, it's what she would have wanted or to National Alzheimer's association.
