Emma Mamie Mayer's Obituary
Emma Mamie Mayer, age 91, of Pinckneyville, IL, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 6:00 a.m. in Pinckneyville Health Care Center, Pinckneyville, IL. Emma was born on June 19, 1921 in Renault, IL, a daughter to John and Emma (Melching) Laubenthal. On November 30, 1954, she married Theodore E. "Ted" Mayer in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Renault, IL and he preceded her in death on November 2, 1993. Emma was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Pinckneyville, IL and had been a member of the Ladies Aid Group at the Lost Prairie Church. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, needlework and especially loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. Survivors include her daughter, Emma Jane (Mark) Steele of Pinckneyville, IL; a daughter-in-law, Judy Mayer of Pinckneyville, IL; two granddaughters, Katelyn Mayer and Nicole Steele (Daniel Grein); a sister-in-law, Edith (Dave) Verberder of St. Louis, MO; a niece, Linda (Don) Blouin; three nephews, Dennis (Fran) Lueker, Ron Lueker, and Steve Mayer; and many dear, special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Theodore "Tater" Mayer. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conant, IL on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend David Kollmeyer officiating. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and then at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conant, IL from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to VNA Tip Hospice or Hopewell Cemetery.
