Elmer M. Louis' Obituary
Elmer M. Louis, age 90, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 5:28 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL. Elmer was born on June 29, 1926 in Perry County, IL, a son to Benjamin Nicholas and Bertha E. (Pabst) Louis. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. On April 5, 1947, he married Kowana Kuhnert in Beaucoup Baptist Parsonage, Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. He was a self-employed carpenter by trade. Elmer was a member of Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and charter member of the DuQuoin Saddle Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Kowana Louis of Pinckneyville, IL; two sons, Nicky (Patty) Louis of Pinckneyville, IL and Larry (Staci) Louis of Pinckneyville, IL; a daughter, Nancy Poston of Houston, TX; a sister, Clara (Jim) Wright of Pinckneyville, IL; five grandchildren, Joel (Susan) Louis, Jason Louis, Shaneille (Opie) Piper, Kaylee Louis and Brady Louis; two step-grandchildren, Eric (Brittny) Poston and Benjamin Folden; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jayla, and Parley Belle; four step-great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Garrett, McKenzie and Emma; and a step-great-great-grandson, Kai. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, George Poston; a daughter-in-law, Billie Louis; an infant granddaughter, Courtney Danielle Louis; four brothers, Charles Louis, George Louis, Harold Louis and Benny Louis; and a sister, Betty Henseler. Funeral services will be held at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Mark Lee and Brother Ted Clark officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Beaucoup Baptist New Remodel Fund. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
