Elizabeth Mae Petrea's Obituary
Elizabeth Mae Petrea, age 87, of Odin, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 9:15 p.m. in Doctors Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salem, IL.
Elizabeth was born on April 18, 1927 in Odin, IL, a daughter to Laurn and Mable (Black) Carter. On August 17, 1946, she married Dwight Oliver Petrea in Centralia, IL and he preceded her in death on February 21, 2000. Elizabeth was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years, and was a former member of Marshall Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, baking her delicious pies, hot rolls, noodles and family dinners. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Roger Petrea (Judy Lawrence) of Centralia, IL; three daughters, Barbara Victorino of Mascoutah, IL, Sandra Hafford of Effingham, IL and Judy Collier of Patoka, IL; one sister, Ruth Sternberg of Salem, IL; eleven grandchildren, Bruce (Cinda) Perkins, Marcia (Rob) Edwards, Nicole (James) Vetter, Tammie (Dick) Naron, Lori Heinzmann (Shane Taplin), Kim Hafford (Kevin Miller), David (Amber) Collier, Julie (Kalvin) Clark, Sarah (Adam) Steinkamp, Lukas Petrea (Corinne Kleiboeker) and Lexie Petrea; twenty great-grandchilden and one expected in March, one great-great grandchild; and special care givers Janie and Bennie Amburgey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Charles Carter and wife Dorothy and Robert Carter and wife Neoma; and two sons-in-law, Larry Collier and Louis Victorino.
Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Salem, IL on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Larry Shelton officiating. Interment will be in Harrison Cemetery, Patoka, IL.
Friends may call at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Salem, IL on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Harrison Cemetery, Patoka, IL.
