Elizabeth J. "Betty" Hughes' Obituary
Elizabeth J. "Betty" Hughes, age 63, of Coulterville, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 7:19 a.m. at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Betty was born November 16, 1943 in Red Bud, a daughter of Austin G. and Violet M. (Dorway) James. She worked as a dietician at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital for 15 years and was a member of the Coulterville VFW Auxiliary. She attended services at the First Baptist Church of Coulterville. Betty loved her family, "the ones she gave birth to and the ones she acquired." Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne and Chris Dollar of Tilden, two sons: Danny Hughes of Coulterville, and Douglas and Evie Hughes of Paducah, KY, four grandchildren: Brittany Hughes, Dakota Funk, Autumn Dollar and Christopher Hughes, one brother: Danny and June James of Chester, her "acquired daughter": Roxanne Sauerhage and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Stephen James, three sisters, Beverly Headley, Shirley Berridge and Theresa James, one son, Timothy M. Hughes and two grandchildren, Elijah and Emily Hughes. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Coulterville, on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Chester. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Coulterville, on Monday from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
