Elizabeth Decker's Obituary
Elizabeth Decker, age 90, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at11:05 p.m. in the Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Nashville, IL. Elizabeth was born on August 1, 1916, in Winkle, IL, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Zoe (McNulty) Thomas. She was united in marriage to Wilbert Frank Decker on June 18, 1938 and he preceded her in death on September 12, 1970. In her lifetime, she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Royal Neighbors of America, and the Ladies V.F.W. Auxiliary. She had previously worked at Pinckneyville Community Hospital in the OB Ward and as a CNA on the medical floor. She was an avid Pinckneyville Panther Basketball fan, enjoyed quilting, baking, and candy making, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include three sons: Tom and wife Vicki Decker, Don and wife Kathy Decker, all of Pinckneyville, and Gary Decker and companion Sheila O'Neil of Scotts Valley, CA, two grandchildren: Matthew and wife Bobbie Decker of Murphysboro, IL, and Carrie Decker of Pinckneyville, a very special great-granddaughter: Anne Marie Decker of Murphysboro, IL and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, and five brothers: Melvin Thomas, Wilfred Thomas, Milton "Pete" Thomas, Earl Thomas, and Virgil Thomas. Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville on Monday, August 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Rick Hatley officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m., on Monday from 8:00 a.m. till 9:30 a.m. and then at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL or the Bethel Cemetery Association, Swanwick, IL.
