Elizabeth "Betty" Hood's Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Hood, age 78, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 9:27 a.m. in SSM Health St. Clare Hospital, Fenton, MO.
Betty was born on April 15, 1944 in Medford, MA, a daughter to Luke Charles and Delores T. (Schive) Patterson. On January 9, 1965, she married Samuel C. Hood, Sr. in Morton, PA and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2016 after 51 years of marriage. She was of the Catholic faith and had been a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Coulterville/Lively Grove, IL and St. Anthony Ladies Sodality. She had worked as a nurse for 8 years and a homemaker all of her life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and her dog, Boots.
Survivors include her two daughters, Rosemary (Allen) Roberts of Coulterville, IL and Michelle Miller of Pinckneyville, IL; her son, Samuel (John) Hood, Jr. of Marion, IL; a son-in-law, Howie Mitchell; two sisters, Catherine Hood Howell of Columbia, NC and Rosemary Miller of Folcroft, PA; ten grandchildren, Keith Shadrick, Jr., Jessica Shadrick, Elizabeth Miller, April (Jeff) Shelton, Savannah (Josh) King, Nathan Smith, Taylor (Craig) Johnson, Abigail Mitchell, Madison Hood, and Emma Hood; and five great-grandchildren, Bella Mae, Mila Rose, Ellie, Haven, and Charley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Jennifer Mitchell; two brothers, Charles Patterson and Gerald Patterson; and a sister, Joan Marie Seeley.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Ray Engelhart officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
