Edwin "Ed" Harrell's Obituary
Edwin "Ed" Harrell, age 94, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 10:24 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, DuQuoin, IL. Ed was born on March 9, 1922 in Eden, IL, a son to Elbert and Turza Belle (Shelton) Harrell. On August 15, 1942, he married Lydia Atkins in Perryville, MO and she survives. They were married for nearly 74 years. Edwin worked at My-T-Fine Pudding as a laborer for 11 years and then as a security guard at Phelps Dodge for many years. He was a member of Old DuQuoin Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL, enjoyed working on lawnmowers and bicycles and loved going to shooting matches and volunteering at the Second Baptist Church Food Pantry DuQuoin, IL. Ed was very dedicated to his church and loved his church family. Survivors include his wife, Lydia Harrell of DuQuoin, IL; nieces and nephews, Mike and Kathy Harris, Tricia, Ella Rose and Gabe Brock, Dawn, Mark, Sam and Sydney Heiman, Yolanda, Tim, Phoebe, Sarah and Sophia Issler, Andrea, Pepper, Cross and Ariel Lewis, Tiffany, Rich, Kirsten, Ben, Kayden and Easton Bates, Tim, Stacy, Brandon and Nick Hirsch, Sandy Woodside, Vicki Robertson, Bryan and Pam Nussbaum, Eddie Zimmer, Michelle and Tina Montez, Gene Clemens, Joanne Eickstead and Clifford Harrell; sister-in-law, Helen Nussbaum and special friends, Wren and Norma Ray, Tom and Glenda Wilkins and Lyle and Marge Houghland. He was preceded in death by his parents, eight sisters and seven brothers. Funeral services will be held at Old DuQuoin Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Ted Clark officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at Old DuQuoin Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Old DuQuoin Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL. Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
