Edward E. Wikle's Obituary
Edward E. Wikle, age 88, of Willisville, IL, formerly of Albany, GA and Anderson, IN, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 9:40 p.m. in the Coulterville Care Center, Coulterville, IL. Ed was born in Anderson, IN on April 12, 1918, a son of Glenn and Eva (Goldsmith) Wikle. He married Elizabeth Dowe on December 1, 1973 in Anderson and she preceded him in death on May 10, 2005. During his lifetime he served with the U. S. Army during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the United Horizon Methodist Church in Anderson, the V. F. W., American Legion, Elk's Club, and United Auto Workers'. Ed retired from Delco-Remy/Delphi of Albany, GA. He loved flower gardening, "tinkering", ballroom dancing, big band music, was a prankster, loved to visit with people and was excellent at remembering their names. Survivors include a son: Steven M. Wikle of Lake Worth, FL, a step-daughter: Virginia Shemonic and her husband, Eugene, of Pinckneyville, two step-grandchildren: Jordon Araiza, his wife, Cyndee, and their children: Jennifer, Amy, and Justin, of Belleville, IL, and Tisha Conway and her husband, Roger, and their children: Casey and Seth of Campbell Hill, IL, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and four brothers: Victor, Donovan, Richard, and Robert. Private family visitation was held on Thursday evening at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2006 in the Maple Wood Cemetery, Anderson, IN at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Stephen Holdzkom officiating. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
