Edward L. Hamilton's Obituary
Edward L. Hamilton, age 84, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 2:45 a.m. in Fairview Health and Rehabilitation, DuQuoin, IL.
Edward was born on February 11, 1934 in Perry County, IL, a son to Roy and Lois (Arterberry) Hamilton. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. In December of 1954, he married Elizabeth Gee in Lowell, MA and to this union four children were born. On October 5, 1989, he married Judith Wilks Rennison in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. He was a member of Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. In his lifetime, Edward had worked for ten years in the insurance industry as a salesman, agency manager, district manager and eventually as an independent broker. He also worked as an accountant, school bus driver and antique dealer. He enjoyed reading, collecting license plates, traveling and genealogy.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Hamilton of DuQuoin, IL; a son, William (Eileen) Hamilton of New Hampshire; two daughters, Susan (Peter) Milonis of Tennessee and Elizabeth Johnson of Texas; one stepson, Todd (Sara) Rennison of Montana; one stepdaughter, Dena Stogsdill of Illinois; a sister, Nadine Hamilton of Marion, IL; eleven grandchildren, William Hamilton, Sarina, Stephanie and Danielle Malonis, Reyhan and Keon Johnson, Annie Geib, Levi and Emily Rennison, and Austin and Dylan Stogsdill; and three great-grandchildren, Harmony and Thea Rennison and Oliver Stogsdill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stephen Hamilton; a brother, Jim Hamilton; his baby sister, Doris Hamilton; and one great-grandson, Hunter Rennison.
Funeral services will be held at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating. Interment will be in Holts Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Military graveside rites by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association.
