Edna Lucille Laird's Obituary
Edna Lucille Laird, age 89, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehab, Pinckneyville, IL. Edna was born on October 21, 1926 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to George and Florence (Armstrong) Arnett. Edna worked in the housekeeping department of Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL for 21 years. She was a dedicated member of Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Edna served on the Ladies Missionary Unit, was responsible for all greeting card sent on behalf of the church and never missed sending one, taught Sunday school and was involved with all meals prepared at the church. Edna loved her church and her church family. She enjoyed embroidery, baking cakes (she was especially known for her delicious red cakes) and spending time with her family Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Lee Laird of Gilbert, AZ; three sons, Carroll (Betty) Laird of Paragould, AR, Tim (Tracey) Laird of Pinckneyville, IL and John Laird of Tilden, IL; one sister, Rebecca A. Arnett of McLeansboro, IL; one brother-in-law, Robert Laird of Pinckneyville, IL; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, David Laird and two brothers, Donald Arnett and Floyd Arnett. Funeral services will be held at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating. Interment will be in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Galum Presbyterian Cemetery or Mueller Hill Cemetery.
