Edith Louisa Guthrie's Obituary
Edith Louisa Guthrie, age 80, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 7:35 p.m. in her son's home in Jackson, TN. Edith was born on August 20, 1931 in Sesser, IL, a daughter to Bryan and Mattie (McBride) Eubanks. On May 21, 1950, she married Charles "Charlie" Lewis Guthrie in Lexington, KY and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1996. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. She was an incredible cook and homemaker and a wonderful caregiver who dearly loved spending time with her family and friends. She never met a stranger and her home was open for all who wanted to enter. Survivors include four sons, Charles "Sam" (Relda) Guthrie of Edgewood, IL, Michael B. (Cathy) Guthrie of O'Fallon, IL, David V. (Lorie) Guthrie of Pinckneyville, IL and Ross D. (Kathy) Guthrie of Jackson, TN; a daughter, Beth (Kerry) Graskewicz of Hudson, WI; a brother, Bill (Bev) Eubanks of Bradley, IL; two sisters, Dorothy Pitchford of Mt. Vernon, IL and Milly Tate of Texico, IL; a brother-in-law, Art D'Haillecourt of Tupelo, MS; twenty-five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and she is also survived by Barb and Fred Brown of Lewisville, TX and many friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Leslie "Puny" Eubanks, Cecil Eubanks, Howard Eubanks, and Harry Eubanks; and a sister, Ellender D'Haillecourt. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ross Guthrie officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Sesser, IL.
