Edie Hagene's Obituary
Edie Hagene, age 75, went to be with her Heavenly Father because she accepted the gift of salvation from her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 21, 2025 in the early morning hours with her devoted husband of 33 years Tom Hagene, Sr. by her side.
Edie Hagene was no quitter. She was born on January 16, 1950 in Ann Arbor, MI. After being raised in Mooseheart she was taken out prior to finishing school to finish at Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, IL. She went on to receive her Associate Degree in Nursing at Prairie State Community College and worked in many places throughout her 40 year career with the last 25 being with SIH in Carbondale, IL. Despite the many adversities she faced in her younger years, she never failed to live up to her obligations. She never gave up when many others would and never blamed others for her challenges either. She was fiercely loyal to her children whom she was proud to have all graduate with Bachelor's Degrees from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. After retirement, Edie donated her time to her church New Hope Community Church in Pinckneyville and their Celebrate Recovery Program. A program that she would be proud to have you donate time or money in her name to. She was very loved and respected by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She served as an inspiration to those who have been broken in their lives because she too was broken many times only to keep pushing on, usually for the benefit of others. A true child of God and a prayer warrior like no other.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Robert, his wife Kristina and their son Bobby of Mt Vernon. Her son Jason and his wife April and their children Andrew and Alicia of Virginia. Daughter Missy Hagene of San Marcos, TX. Her step-children Tom Hagene, Jr. and wife Susan of Pinckneyville and their children Timothy and Lindsey. Julie and her children Brandon, Trenton and Jared. Seven great-grandchildren whom she adored and enjoyed sharing her passion for St. Louis Blues Hockey and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball with. Sisters Judy Braley of Toledo, OH and Donna (Ted) Buccini of West Frankfort, IL, as well as, many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter White Sr. and Mae (nee Shackett) White; sister Jeanette Funchion; brothers Danny White, Walter White, John White, Jim White; and her sister and closest ally Linda White; nieces Jeannie and LaDonna and nephew Tony; and one grandson Anthony Hagene.
Funeral services will be held at New Hope Community Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor James Clardy officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
