Ed Stephenson's Obituary
Ed Stephenson, age 86, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 9:40 a.m. in his home surrounded by his family. Ed was born on December 28, 1928 in Carbondale, IL, a son to James Denard and Mabel Irene (Mifflin) Stephenson. On June 17, 1950, he married Ilene Baudison in Pinckneyville, IL and she preceded him in death on October 26, 2007 after 57 years of marriage. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Ed had worked as a cement mason until 1981 and was a past president of Cement Mason Union Local #143. He then worked as an inspector at Perry County Health Department, Pinckneyville, IL until he retired in June of 1994. He taught Sunday school and served as song leader for years at church, loved to golf and was a past member of the board at Perry County Country Club, was a scorekeeper for the Pinckneyville High School girls' softball team, enjoyed fishing and loved his family. Survivors include his son, Dennis (Donna) Stephenson of Carol Stream, IL; two daughters, Beth (David) Bolling of Pinckneyville, IL and Donna Baker of Denver, CO; two sisters, June Boswell of Vicksburg, MS and Leatha Apken of Highland, IL; eight grandchildren, Jay (Kelly) Pursell of Waterloo, IL, Kyle (Caitlin) Pursell of Pinckneyville, IL, Jill (Tom) de Larzac of Toronto, Canada, Elizabeth (Sean) Hughes of Norfolk, VA, Mary Katherine Stephenson of Carol Stream, IL, Joe Stephenson of Carol Stream, IL, Roger Minton III of Marion, IL, and Kaleigh Minton of Marion, IL; two step-grandchildren, Eric (Danielle) Bolling of Shreve, OH and Angela (Terry) Weis of St. Louis, MO; twelve great-grandchildren, Easton and Ella Pursell, Grady and Emmett Pursell, Remy de Larzac, Isabel, Ryan and Ava Hughes and Alex, Aiden, Alison and Rhea Minton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ilene Stephenson; his twin brother, George Stephenson; and his sister, Mary Jo Weber. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Davy Miller officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
