E. Raymond Cowley, age 86, of DuQuoin, IL, died Friday, June 23, 2006 at 3:37 a.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, DuQuoin, IL. Raymond was born in Tamaroa, IL, January 2, 1920, the son of Harry and Maggie Marie (Clark) Cowley. He was united in marriage to Helen M. Pitman, October 18, 1941 in Jackson, MO and she preceded him in death on March 2, 1999. Raymond was a veteran having served during WWII in the U.S. Army in the Philippines. He was a farmer and had retired from Phelps Dodge in DuQuoin, IL after 20 years. Raymond was a member of the Nine Mile Baptist Church, Tamaroa, IL. Raymond is survived by two sons, Jerry Cowley of Fullerton, CA and Marvin Cowley of Springfield, OR, three daughters, Donna Miller of DuQuoin, IL, Brenda Kuberski of Eugene, OR, and Patti Bardle and husband Tom of Pinckneyville, IL, two sisters, Opal Chellberg of San Diego, CA, and Edna Szczeblewski of Tamaroa, IL, twelve grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, a daughter, Carole Cowley, a great grandson, Elijah Neal, three sisters, and five brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday evening, June 26, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at the Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL with Reverend Shaw Dement officiating. Interment will be in the Little Vine Cemetery, Tamaroa, IL. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home in DuQuoin, IL, Monday evening, from 4:00 p.m. till Services. Memorials may be made to the Fair Acres Nursing Home Activity Fund, DuQuoin, IL.
