Dear Peg and Susie, Mike and Sean
This was one heck of a guy. what an American. Sad to see him go, but you have to be very proud. God bless everyone of you. I would like to be there to see you, but I can't. you will be in my thoughts.
My brother Scott and I knew Al for at least a decade in the mid '60s through early '70s
and were extremely close. He was a great friend of our family in Encino, CA. Many times we would eat breakfast at Musso & Frank's in Hollywood and then go to Union Station to send Al off on the Union pacific Streamliner "City Of Los Angeles" which he would take to Nebraska.
Often we would take trips to Leo Carillo State Beach up the coast, watch him play handball at the Hollywood YMCA, go to movies or go visit places in L.A. Al was a dear friend, who would only bring up his Death March experiences when he got ticked-off at us (we were only kids at the time) becausee we didn't know how good we had it growing up in Encino! Ironically, I was just thinking of his pet poodle, "Mr. Beau" just yesterday (after 30 years!) And today I discovered he had passed. Good Bye Al. You will never "Fade Away" in our memory.
To the family of Dr. Albert Neir Brown,
I had the great honor of meeting Dr. Brown after he had moved here in the late 90's. He was attending a flag raising ceremony that I was part of. I rushed home afterwards and shared my experience with my entire family. I have all ways respected those that have served our country bravely and put their life's on the line for this great nation. The day I met Dr. Brown will forever be part of one of my greatest memories...a true HERO and true American! My God place peace on your hearts! My thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Brown and your entire family!
