Douglas Eugene Hardin's Obituary
Douglas Eugene Hardin, age 57, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 5:15 p.m., peacefully at home.
Douglas was born on June 3, 1967 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Larry and Velda Clydine (Birkner) Hardin. Doug graduated from Pinckneyville Community High School in 1985. He attended Sanford Brown Business College in St. Louis. He was employed at Feirich/Mager/Green/Ryan in Carbondale. Doug was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. In his youth, he played high school football and swam on the Pinckneyville swim team. He found joy in golfing, fishing, playing pool, and taking care of his cats. He loved cheering on the Packers with a cold Busch, reading, watching t.v., trying new food, and spending time with friends and family. Doug bravely battled cancer for 8 long years with an optimistic outlook and a courageous spirit.
Survivors include his mother, Clydine Hardin (Everett Moore) of Pinckneyville, IL; two sisters, Rhonda (Larry) Shubert of Pinckneyville, IL, and Cynthia (Blaine) Heisner of Pinckneyville, IL; one brother, Kevin (Carrie) Hardin of Pinckneyville, IL; four nephews, Brandon (Alizabeth) Hardin, Dylan (Erin) Hardin, Isaac (Lauren) Hardin, Blaine (Gracie) Shubert of DuQuoin; two nieces Carly Heisner and Eliza Heisner; great niece, Mila Hardin all of Pinckneyville, IL; grandmother Belva Birkner of Pinckneyville, IL; step-siblings, Monica, Mary and Bethany of Steeleville, IL; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighborhood cats.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Hardin and grandparents Clyde Birkner, Robert Hardin, and Margurite Hardin.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., with Reverend Jason Eisele and Minister Alex Eddy officiating. Interment will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Illinois.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pinckneyville Dolphin Swim Team.
