Dorothy Price Young's Obituary
Dorothy Price Young, 89, passed away at home on September 18, 2013. Dorothy leaves behind a life full of family, friends, traveling, and a legacy for great baking.
Born in DuQuoin Illinois, Dorothy met and was courted by the love of her life, Louis D. Young. Married in 1945, Dorothy and Louis traveled in their motor home whenever possible. Throughout the years they marveled in the beauty found across the United States. Known to her family and friends as "Dot", she was an amazing cook and baker; usually preparing something sweet to follow a meal. Many times the aroma of fresh baked pie or blackberry cobbler filled the motor home and surrounding campsites. On holidays, her home was filled with the laughter of family and the comforting bouquet of festive cooking. Her love for her children and grandchildren was evident in all she did. Dorothy crafted many a quilt, doll, or outfit in the late night hours and gave a piece of her heart with each one. She also made a tradition of crafting a Christmas ornament every year for each grandchild, and then she would place each special ornament on her own tree for each child to find. Dorothy loved to garden and especially enjoyed planting flowers to attract Humming Birds and Butterflies. Dorothy will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her adoring husband and son in DuQuoin, where her journey of life began. Dorothy is survived by her five children, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery DuQuoin, Illinois, with Kenneth Wayne Young Jr. officiating. Pyatt Funeral Home DuQuoin, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
