Dorothy J. "Bedar" Collins' Obituary
Dorothy J. "Bedar" Collins, age 82, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 5:56 p.m. in her home. Dorothy was born on March 23, 1929 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Earl and Lola (Campbell) Wilbanks. On July 4, 1947, she married Rennie Bedar in Christopher, IL and he preceded her in death on February 25, 1982. On February 21, 1987, she married Calvin Collins in DuQuoin, IL and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1991. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, DuQuoin, IL and had worked as a repair clerk for General Telephone, retiring after 41 years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary in Zeigler, IL, and Illinois Alpha Tau Masters Sorority. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards and Bingo and dearly loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include two sons, Chuck M. Bedar of Buckner, IL and Richard R. (Janice) Bedar of DuQuoin, IL; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Bedar of Mt. Vernon, IL; a brother, Bill (Cindy) Wilbanks of Pacific, MO; a brother-in-law, Henry Bedar of Christopher, IL; a beloved sister-in-law, Marguerite Mayti of Christopher, IL; three grandchildren, Matthew (Jamie) Janiak of Atlanta, GA, Tracy Bedar of Greenville, TX and Dawn Bedar of Mt. Vernon, IL; a great-granddaughter, Addison Claire Bedar and one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a daughter, Lora Bedar Janiak; grandson Cody Taylor; a special friend, Clifford Harrell; and four brothers, Earl Wilbanks, Kenny Wilbanks, Jim Wilbanks and Bobby Wilbanks. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, DuQuoin, IL on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Nick Junker officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL at a later date. Friends may call at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, DuQuoin, IL on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Dorothy's wishes were to be cremated. Memorial donations may be made to Masses, Sacred Heart Building Fund, or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL is in charge of arrangements.
