Donna R. McClurken's Obituary
Donna R. McClurken, age 87, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 7:50 a.m. in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pinckneyville, IL.
Donna was born on December 15, 1931, in Elkville, IL, a daughter to Giles and Pearl (Burnett) Burns. She married Alan D. McClurken at Elkville Methodist Church, Elkville, IL on August 11, 1956 and he preceded her in death on September 8, 2010 after 54 years of marriage. Donna was a graduate of Deaconess College of Nursing, St. Louis, MO. She had worked as an RN, first for Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL, and later for Fair Acres Nursing Home, DuQuoin, IL. Donna was a member of Women's Club, Home Bureau, Retired Nursing League and Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, where she sang in the choir and served in the Women's Missionary Union. Donna loved being a nurse and after she retired, she volunteered for Hospice. She loved gardening and flowers, but mostly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Jane (Greg) Snyder of Thornton, CO; three sons, Alan (Judy) McClurken, Jr. of Pinckneyville, IL, Kent (Lena) McClurken of Evansville, IN and Cory (Nicki) McClurken of Percy, IL; four grandchildren, Amanda (Alan) Arndt of Pinckneyville, IL, Shay Snyder (fiancé Jeffrey Ferris) of Melbourne, FL, Jacob McClurken of Percy, IL, and Jaimelyn McClurken of Evansville, IN; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Aaron Arndt; and several niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alan D. McClurken; three brothers, Lawrence Burns, Thomas (Millie) Burns and Larry Kent (Meredith) Burns; one sister, Afton (Ivan) Hall.
Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Jay Lowder and Reverend Charles Boling officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Gerre Luke Memorial Scholarship Fund.
