Donald E. Loos' Obituary
Donald Eugene Loos, age 74, of Oakdale, IL, formerly of Rockford, IL, died Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 2:40 a.m. in his home. Donald was born on March 3, 1932 in Pinckneyville, a son of Otto and Mary (Hoffman) Loos. He married Mary Elizabeth Krug on September 24, 1956 at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, and she survives. During his lifetime, he served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, retired in 1989 after 33 years as a millwright in the aerospace industry with the Hamilton Sunstrand Co., was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL, a volunteer fireman in New Milford, IL, a member of the United Aerospace Workers Local #592, loved gardening, mowing grass, and the outdoors. Survivors include his wife: Mary of Oakdale, a son: Richard E. Loos, and his wife, Susan of Loves Park, IL, a daughter: Vida Spain, and her husband, Steve, of Rockford, IL, two brothers: Leroy Loos, and his wife, Julie, of Belvedere, IL, Wayne Loos, and his wife, Martha, of Rockford, a sister: Marilyn Webster, and her husband, Gary, of Maine, two grandchildren: Seth Spain of Urbana, IL and Jacob Loos who is serving with the U. S. Navy stationed in San Diego, CA, two step-grandchildren: Gayle McMullen of Chicago and Erin McMullen of Loves Park, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL with Fr. Dennis Voss officiating. Interment will be in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Oakdale, IL on Thursday, October 26, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, October 27, 2006 from 8:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held in Rockford, IL at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Oakdale Village Hall or St. Anthony Catholic Church.
