Donald L. Haggard, Sr.'s Obituary
Donald L. Haggard, Sr., age 74, of Tamaroa, IL, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 2:08 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital Emergency Room, Pinckneyville, IL. Don was born on October 29, 1938 in Swanwick, IL, a son to Robert Leslie and Evelyn A. (Rudloff) Haggard. On March 7, 1959, he married Patricia Bridges at the Second Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2012 after 53 years of marriage. He had worked as a coal miner at Consol Burning Star #3, Schuline, IL as a dozer and equipment operator for over 17 years and then for the Perry County Highway Department as an equipment operator for over 15 years. Don was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL, the U.M.W.A., and the Laborers Local. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and duck hunting and loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. Survivors include three sons, Donald "Merle" (Angela) Haggard, Jr. of Tamaroa, IL, Daniel (Danielle) Haggard of Pinckneyville, IL, and David (Carrie) Haggard of DuQuoin, IL; a brother, Edward Haggard of DuQuoin, IL; a sister, Evelyn Morgenthaler of DuQuoin, IL; and six grandchildren, Marenna Haggard, Braydon Haggard, Hayley Haggard, Meg Haggard, Katherine Haggard, and Madelyn Haggard. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a daughter, Patricia Orlean Haggard. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Cindy Bean officiating. Interment will be in Campbell Cemetery, Tamaroa, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Campbell Cemetery, Tamaroa, IL.
