Donald G. Gimber's Obituary
Donald G. Gimber, age 85, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 4:28 p.m. in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, O'Fallon, IL.
Donald was born June 12, 1933 in Coulterville, IL, a son to Leo "Pete" and Cleda (Porter) Gimber, Sr. He married Betty Louise Price in Corinth, MS on October 6, 1953 and she preceded him death on January 19, 2017. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Donald had worked for Scott Field as a mechanic for 20 years and for Randolph County Highway Department and later in his lifetime, he retired from Peabody Coal Company as a coal miner. Donald was of the Christian faith. Donald was a lifetime member of the Masonic Alma Lodge #497, Steeleville, IL and was a member of the U.M.W.A. He was a master mechanic of anything, and an avid gardener, bird watcher and mushroom hunter.
Survivors include his son, James Gimber of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter, Donna (Bobby) Campanella of Willisville, IL; three grandchildren, Jeff Gimber, Jessica (Ryan) Fisher and Tyson Kempfer; five great-grandchildren, Michael, Rylee, Isabella, Andrew and Luke Fisher; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Gimber; one son, David Gimber; one daughter, Betsey Gimber; two brothers, Jack Gimber and Leo Gimber, Jr.; two sisters, Darla Sue Gimber and Rosalie Powers.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kimberly Allen officiating. Interment will be in at Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Coulterville V.F.W. Post #6865, Coulterville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
