Donald Keith Braun's Obituary
Donald K. Braun, age 77, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 9:00 p.m. in his home. Don was born on January 5, 1934 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Leo A. and Georgia (Tally) Braun. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. On January 28, 1956, he married Patricia S. Steen in Pinckneyville, IL and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2001. He was the owner/operator of the Amoco Service Station in Pinckneyville, IL for 45 years and was a licensed pirotechnician handling many of the Pinckneyville fireworks displays over the years. Don was a member of the Grace Outreach Church, Pinckneyville, IL, member and past president of Lions Club, Pinckneyville, IL, member of the Knights of Columbus, Pinckneyville, IL, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, Pinckneyville, IL, charter member of the Moose Lodge, past president of the Perry County Fair Board, past president and board member of Perry County Agricultural Society, a licensed tractor pull judge with the Illinois Tractor Pullers Association, served 35 years on the board of the American Thresherman Association and a former member of the Optimists. He enjoyed travel, eating out, military airplanes, tractor pulls and delivering, making and lighting fireworks. Survivors include his two daughters, Connie (Floyd) Egbert of Willisville, IL and Cynthia (David) Reidelberger of Pinckneyville, IL; one brother, James L. (Joyce) Braun of Abingdon, VA; three grandchildren, Shannon (Todd) Rubach of Steelville, IL, Patrick (Christina) Braun of Pinckneyville, IL, and Chelsea Giacomo of Pinckneyville, IL; four great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Rubach, Madison Braun, Cassandra Braun and Reese Giacomo; a nephew, Mark (Kourtney) Braun of Maybe, MI; two nieces, Gina Braun of Santa Fe, NM and Debbie Braun of Abingdon, VA; and two great-nephews, Vyron Braun and Landon Braun. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two brothers, Father Dean Braun and Father David Braun. Funeral services will be held at Grace Outreach Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Kirk Steele officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Military graveside rites by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and then on Monday at Grace Outreach Church, Pinckneyville, IL from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, American Cancer Society or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
