Don Dinkins, Sr.'s Obituary
Don Dinkins, Sr., age 72, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 11:54 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL. Don was born on January 26, 1943 in Richmond, IN, a son to Russell and Grace (Clark) Dinkins. In August 1960, he married Toni Lynn Day in Springfield, IL and they later divorced. On March 29, 1973, he married Marylin Talley in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. He worked at Decca Records, Pinckneyville, IL and then as an auxillary police officer for the City of Pinckneyville at the same time he was working as a coal miner at Consolidated Coal #2 and #4, Jamestown for over 29 years and after retiring, he worked in maintenance at Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL. He was a member of U.M.W.A. and the Coon Club, was a gun enthusiast, enjoyed collecting antiques and restoring and showing classic cars. Don loved Elvis, fishing, hunting, and raising hunting dogs and showing them. Survivors include his wife of over 41 years, Marylin Dinkins of Pinckneyville, IL; two children from his first marriage, Jeffery Allen (Mira) Dinkins of Steeleville, IL and Lisa Dawn Porter (special friend, Dwayne Seibert) of Dowell, IL; three sons from his second marriage, Patrick Bryan (Amy) Dinkins of Republic, MI, Donald Ray Dinkins, Jr. of Carbondale, IL and Michael Wayne Dinkins of Marion, IL; a brother, Charles (Carolyn) Dinkins of Pinckneyville, IL; a half-sister, Amie Ruth Starr of Indianapolis, IN; eight grandchildren, Devin Dinkins, Steve Waltemate, Natasha Partin, Derek Dinkins, Lindsey Dinkins, Jessi Dinkins, Hannah Dinkins and Trevor Dinkins; and a great-granddaughter, Spencer Dinkins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Don's wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jim Barnett officiating. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday at First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
