Dixie Atteberry's Obituary
Dixie Atteberry, age 80, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 8:10 a.m., in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pinckneyville, IL.
Dixie was born on October 22, 1945 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Leo and Grace (Randall) Swallers. On June 26, 1982, she married Terry “Attaboy” Atteberry in Clinton, IL and he survives. She worked at the Trophy Room and was a loving homemaker. Dixie belonged to the First Christian Church, Pinckneyville, IL. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and reading, as well as riding motorcycles. Dixie loved cooking and baking for her friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 43 years, Terry Atteberry of Pinckneyville, IL; a son, Brian (Debra) Bender of Pinckneyville, IL; a daughter, Brenda Bender (Aron Costantino) of Carbondale, IL; step-son, Joel Atteberry of Hood River, OR; and four grandchildren, Emily, Erin, Bradley and Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jeannie Winkley and Addie Medina; and one brother, Leroy “Roy” Swallers.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., in First Christian Church, Pinckneyville, IL with Duane White officiating.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., in First Christian Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
