Dennis William Bruns' Obituary
Dennis Bruns, age 59, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO, surrounded by family and friends after a hard battle against cancer.
Dennis was born on October 27, 1964 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Bernard William "Bill" and Marcella "Sally" Elizabeth (Hagene) Bruns. Dennis graduated from Pinckneyville Community High School in 1982. On February 24, 1990, he married Diane Bauersachs at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. Dennis was a life-long farmer, member of Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and member of the Perry County Farm Bureau. He truly loved being outdoors. Dennis was an avid animal lover and loved taking care of his four legged friends, especially his bull, Brutus, his four dogs, Nala, Bandit, Blue, and Bear, and his cat, Mikey. He greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his presence will be extremely missed. He had a large, kind and selfless heart.
Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Diane Bruns of Pinckneyville, IL; two daughters, Danielle (Brandon) Rickenberg of Pinckneyville, IL and Denise (Aaron) Smithey of Pinckneyville, IL; two grandchildren, Mia "MiMi" Rickenberg and Hudson "Bubba" Smithey; one sister, Cindy (Dr. John) Melvin of DuQuoin, IL; father-in-law, Delbert Bauersachs of Pinckneyville, IL; two brothers-in-law, Doug (Theresa) Bauersachs and Dwayne Bauersachs, all of Pinckneyville, IL; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Mildred Bauersachs.
Funeral services will be held at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with Brother Mark Lee officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Mueller Hill Cemetery, or Perry County Humane Society.
