Dennis A. Fontana's Obituary
Dennis Fontana, age 74, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 5:15 a.m., in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Dennis was born on January 5, 1951 in DuQuoin, IL, a son to Albert and Lillian Irene (Dempsey) Fontana. On July 13, 1985 he married Jane Reidelberger at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville, IL. Dennis retired from Nashville Interior Systems in the automotive manufacturing department after 23 years. He was a member at St. Bruno Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #2921. Dennis loved working on cars and was a member of the S.A.C.C., Solid Axle Corvette Club. He enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, playing Wordle, traveling and exploring new restaurants and food.
Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Jane Fontana of Pinckneyville, IL; one daughter, Sarah (Jeff) Fontana-Lee of Redmond, WA; two sisters, Donna (Peter) Watson of Shiloh, IL and Rita (Joel) McIntyre of Pinckneyville, IL; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Jenkel of Carbondale, IL and Judy Grohman of Phenix City, AL; two nieces, Tara (Nick) Lelonek of St. Louis, MO and Noelle McIntyre of St. Louis, MO; two nephews, Dean (Heidi) Grohman of Phenix City, AL and Lance (Karen) Grohman of Phenix City, AL; and two step-nieces, Cindi (Dominic) Macaluso of Greer, SC and Terri (Dean) Stouffer of Chattanooga, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Anthony Michael Fontana; mother and father-in-law, Pete and Margery Reidelberger; niece and nephew, Christina and Adam McIntyre; and brother-in-law, James "Jim" Grohman.
Funeral services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL, on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., with Father John Igew officiating. Interment will be at St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Illinois.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
The family would prefer in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to St. Bruno Catholic Church, St. Bruno Catholic School, or BJC Hospice and Home Care.
