Dean Leon Crumbacher's Obituary
Dean Leon Crumbacher, age 93, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 12:05 a.m., in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pinckneyville, IL.
Dean was born on January 10, 1931 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Walter Edward Crumbacher and Elsie Leona (Blackburn) Crumbacher. On July 19, 1952, he married Evelyn Marie Bird at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. They recently celebrated their anniversary of 72 years of marriage on July 19, 2024. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL where he had served as deacon for 55 years and Sunday school teacher for 50 years. He was an Army veteran serving from 1952 to 1954 and studied electronics. After returning from the military, he worked for Dunn Brothers Motors as a television repairman for 15 years before opening his own business, Dean's TV Sales and Service, and operated it for 45 years. He was a member of the Gideon's International Perry County camp for over 40 years and served on the Pinckneyville High School Board of Education for 15 years and was able to present each of his children with their diplomas.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn; four children, Gayle (Robert) Keith of Pinckneyville, IL, Janice (Brent) Andrews of Newmarket, Ontario Canada, Steven Crumbacher of El, Paso, IL, and David (Kathy) Crumbacher of Mooresville, IN; six grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Keith, Jeremy (Alison) Keith, Christopher Andrews, Melissa Suggs, Benjamin Crumbacher and Hannah (Logan) Howard; nine great-grandchildren, Gracelyn Keith, Emersyn Keith, Aaron Keith, Abigail Keith, Alayna Keith, Alexa Keith, Mileena Suggs, Mya Suggs, and Marley Suggs; two great-great grandchildren, Kha'yir Williams and J'aire Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, Lowell, Leslie, Lavern and Loren (in infancy).
Dean enjoyed many hobbies over the years including church league softball, golf, hunting, camping and especially fishing. He enjoyed taking his boat and fishing all over southern Illinois. He especially enjoyed fishing and taking his many friends and spending time on the lake telling fishing stories. He took his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren on fishing trips and enjoyed teaching them how to cast, bait hooks, and even clean the catch. He loved to travel with Evelyn; they traveled to: Brazil, Greece, England and Hawaii. Dean also shared his personal testimony of salvation whenever he had the opportunity. He loved his family and was proud of all their accomplishments.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. Jay Lowder officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville or Gideon's International.
