Dawn L. Smith's Obituary
Dawn L. Smith, age 65, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 2:02 p.m., in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL, surrounded by her loving family.
Dawn was born on May 23, 1958, in Red Bud, IL, a daughter to Edgar and Janet (Frassato) Hale. Dawn was a homemaker, child care provider, and was a member at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL. On September 26, 1981, she married Mark Smith at St. Bruno Catholic Church and he survives. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Swanwick Bethel Picnic Association, and the Hamilton Park Neighbor Ladies. Dawn enjoyed having family dinners on Sundays. She enjoyed crocheting and loved spending time with her kids and beloved grandchildren. Dawn was the grandkids' biggest fan at all of their sporting events. She was a light for all who knew and loved her. Her soft spoken way and sweet personality will be missed by all.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Mark D. Smith of DuQuoin, IL; mother-in-law, Betty Smith of Pinckneyville, IL; three children, Kyle (Tiffany) Smith of Pinckneyville, IL, Tyler (Emily) Smith of Jackson, MO, and Taylor Smith (fiancé, Luke Miller) of Pinckneyville, IL; one brother, Greg (Liz) Hale of Pinckneyville, IL; special uncle, Bob Frassato of Pinckneyville, IL; five grandchildren, Hunter, Kolton, Kaden, Baker and Griffin; two nephews, Bryant (Katelyn) Hale and Garrick Hale; two great-nephews, Jaxson and Easton; and special cousin, Linda Jones of Coulterville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Janet Hale; father-in-law, Jeril Smith; sister-in-law, Cheryl Smith; and brother-in-law, Jon Smith.
Funeral services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., with Father Carl Schrage officiating. Interment will take place at Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL.
Visitation will be at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again Thursday morning at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Swanwick Bethel Cemetery Association.
