David Neal Joslin's Obituary
David Neal Joslin, age 78, of Oakdale, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 9:02 p.m., in Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, IL.
David was born on April 10, 1945, in DuQuoin, IL, a son to Edward and Josephine (Jones) Joslin. On April 9, 1966, he married LaVerna "Bunny" Ibendahl at Concord Baptist Church, Rice, IL and she survives. He was always a hard worker and had worked as a welder for 33 years at Caterpillar, Inc., Joliet, IL. David was a tinkerer and enjoyed working on cars, especially his racecar. He was an avid Nascar fan and especially loved Mark Martin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing his lawn, motorcycle riding, watching the Cubs and the Cardinal ballgames, and was a handyman, even remodeling his own home. The joy of David's life though was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, LaVerna "Bunny" Joslin of Oakdale, IL; three grandchildren, Michael David (Stephanie) Joslin of Braidwood, IL, Chelsea Nicole Joslin McDowell of Shorewood, IL, and Breanna Kay Joslin of Braidwood, IL; one sister, Judy (Rollie) Kirby of DuQuoin, IL; two sisters-in-law, Esther Hancock of Fairdealing, MO and Janet (Alex) DeMeo of Oakdale, IL; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a very special nephew, Nathan DeMeo of Ashley, IL; two honorary grandsons, Adam and Zachary McDowell, both of Shorewood, IL; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Troy Edward Joslin; two brothers, Carl Joslin and Jim Joslin, Sr.; and one sister, Donna Beckham.
Memorial services will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Mike Bruno officiating.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
