David M. Baker Sr., age 68, of Sparta, Illinois, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in his home. David was born on February 18, 1949 in Cairo, IL, a son to Francis L. and Kathryn A. (Glade) Baker Sr. On February 27, 1970, he married Nancy L. Flaton in St. Louis, MO and she survives. David drove a fuel truck for F.S. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; one son, David M. (Valerie) Baker Jr. of Pinckneyville, IL; one granddaughter, Emilee M. Baker; four siblings, Francis L. (Lottie) Baker Jr. of Florida, Bonnie K. (Jim) Kaluk of Florida, John F. (Penny) Baker of Centralia, IL and Sue Ellen (Craig) Burts of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Jacob Baker. David's wishes were to be cremated with no services. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Care Animal Shelter-No Kill Animal Shelter, Murphysboro, IL. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
