Darlene Tanner's Obituary
Darlene Tanner, age 78, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 1:55 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, IL. Darlene was born on January 4, 1937, in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Paul N. and Dorothy (Kelly) Mathis. On October 18, 1954, she married Bob Tanner in Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and he survives. She had worked as a cook at Pinckneyville Jr. High School, Pinckneyville, IL for seven years, at the Coast to Coast Store, Pinckneyville, IL for 12 years, and babysat in her home. Darlene was a member of the Kentucky Colonel and member of and served as president of the A-Way-We-Go Camping Club and spent her last 17 years, during the winter, in White's RV Park, Zephyrhills, FL, where she made many friends. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and crocheting and dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of more than 60 years, Bob Tanner of Pinckneyville, IL; two sons, Terry (Kathy) Tanner of Marion, IL, and Roy (Melissa "Missy") Tanner of Johnson City, IL; three brothers, Larry Mathis of Pinckneyville, IL, Max (Bernice) Mathis of Pinckneyville, IL, and Doug (Christi) Mathis of Pinckneyville, IL; a sister Jo Dene (Bill) Valentine of Richmond Hills, GA; seven grandchildren, Megan (Kyle) Lahde, Tara Tanner, Kayla Tanner, Jesse (Tristan) Jeffords, Dylan Jeffords, Dakota Tanner and Levi Tanner; two great-grandchildren, Tynlee and Tanner Lahde. Also, numerous nephews and a niece that she loved as grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Mark Lee officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, at the church, from noon until 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Beaucoup Baptist Church.
