Danny Joe Walker's Obituary
Danny Joe Walker, age 81, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 12:59 a.m. in Fairview Health and Rehabilitation, DuQuoin, IL. Danny was born on July 17, 1934 in Petersburg, IN, a son to Ellis and Henrietta (Miller) Walker. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, where he was a cadet in naval flight training. Danny owned and operated Walker's Dime Store in Pinckneyville for 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Pinckneyville Masonic Lodge, a charter member and past president of the Pinckneyville Optimist Club and also past president of the Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce. He was active participant in many Pinckneyville events. Danny enjoyed boating, golfing and supporting his grandchildren's many activities. Survivors include one daughter, Dana (Dennis) Jackson of DuQuoin IL; one son, Mike Walker of Pinckneyville, IL; two grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa) Jackson of DuQuoin, IL and Nathan Jackson of DuQuoin, IL; several nieces and nephews and a cat named Pain. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bob Walker, Clifford Walker and Burress Walker and one sister in infancy, Peggy Walker. A memorial service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Nathan Jackson officiating Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Pinckneyville Optimists Club, Pinckneyville, IL or to his grandson's ministry, Vision Ministries, DuQuoin, IL. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
