Danny G. Ogilvie's Obituary
Danny G. Ogilvie, age 82, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 4:52 a.m. in Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL.
Danny was born on June 11, 1941 in Winkle, IL, a son to Melroy and Ella E. (Nevill) Ogilvie. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. On August 15, 1964, he married Darlene Knope at Winkle Baptist Church and she survives. Danny was of the Baptist faith. He had worked as a coal miner for over 30 years, was a member of the U.M.W.A. and a lifetime member of the Coulterville V.F.W. Danny loved mushroom hunting and fishing. He especially loved taking his grandsons fishing and started doing that when they were still in diapers.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Darlene Ogilvie of Coulterville, IL; a daughter, Dana (Ron) Hanebutt of Shawnee, OK; three brothers, Ernie (Shirley) Ogilvie of Coulterville, IL, Kenny Ogilvie of Pinckneyville, IL, and Ronnie Ogilvie of Swanwick, IL; a brother-in-law, Lefty Leggans of DuQuoin, IL; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Ogilvie of Swanwick, IL; two grandsons, Brandon Hanebutt (Katie Beamis), and Nick Hanebutt (Beth Hoover); and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lonnie Ogilvie; and a sister, Carol Leggans.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., with Brother Tim McIntyre officiating. Interment will be in Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL with military graveside rites by the Coulterville V.F.W. Post #6865.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Randolph County Humane Society.
