Dale Armstrong Smith's Obituary
Dale Armstrong Smith, age 89, of the Denmark, IL area, died Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 8:07 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital. Dale was born in rural Cutler, (Perry County) IL on August 9, 1917 a son of Lyman and Mabel C. (Armstrong) Smith. He married Ruth L. Schaudt on October 18, 1947 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Conant, IL and she survives. He was raised in the former Galum Presbyterian Church, rural Pinckneyville, and currently a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Conant, was stationed in India while serving in the Army Air Corp. during World War II, provided strong leadership for over 25 years as a board member of the Egyptian Electric Co-op. and the Southern Illinois Power Co-op, was a member of the Perry County Farm Bureau, enjoyed reading, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife: Ruth, three children: Joyce Pyatt, and her husband, Paul, of Pinckneyville, Thomas Smith, and his wife, Mardy, of Campbell Hill, Mark Smith, and his wife, Kimberly, of Campbell Hill, a sister: Gertrude Smith of Cutler, five grandchildren: Nathan and Kristi Pyatt, Tami and Kevin Fagerland, Ryan Smith, and friend, Jaime Green, Ethan and Amber Smith, Brittany Smith, two great-grandchildren: Isak Fagerland and Reagan Pyatt, a sister-in-law: Betty Ezekiel, a niece: Debbi Pollock and her husband, Alan, and many other relatives and friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Herschel, an infant brother: Melvin, and a grandson: Tyler Smith. Funeral services will Tuesday morning, November 14, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conant with Reverend Jon W. Smithley officiating. Interment will be in the Galum Presbyterian cemetery. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, IL Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. till 9:00 a.m. then at the Church from 9:30 a.m. till services. Memorials may be made to Galum Cemetery Association General Fund. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Presswood-Daffron American Legion
