Cora Ellis Smith's Obituary
Cora Ellis Smith, age 72, passed away at 11:55 p.m on Thursday, December 26, 2013 in Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Nashville, IL. Cora was born on September 20, 1941 in Swanwick, IL, a daughter to Chesley Woodside and Bertha (Kellerman) Woodside. After graduating from Pinckneyville High School, Cora worked as a Secretary in St. Louis, MO. and Springfield, IL, and later worked in the Ben Franklin Store in Pinckneyville, IL. On July 12, 1982, Cora married Paul Smith in Belleville, IL, and he preceded her in death on February 22, 2002 after 20 years of marriage. She was Christian, loved being out on the family farm, attending barn dances in her teenage years especially polka dances, and enjoyed taking care of her family. In the last four years, Cora enjoyed visits with her grandkids. She is survived by one daughter, Kara (Anthony) Kellerman of Pinckneyville, IL.; two step-sons, Gary (Kim) Smith of Sparta, IL., and Mike (Marie) Smith of Tilden, IL. ; two brothers, Eugene Woodside of Sparta, IL. and Wayne Woodside of Rogers, AR.; four sisters, Virginia Urwin of St. Louis, MO., Judy (Ed) Stallheber of Sparta, IL., Betty (Steve) Brocco of Caseyville, IL., and Audrey Cassoutt of St. Louis, MO.; two granchildren, Kaleb Kellerman and Avery Kellerman; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Cora was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul Smith; one step-daughter, Sherry Shubert; one sister, Ann Little; one brother, Wilbur Woodside; one sister-in-law, Florence Woodside; two brothers-in-law, Gene Little and Ed Cassoutt; one cousin and friend, Vivian Rodely; and her two dogs Rusty and Bandit. Funeral Services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home in Coulterville, IL. on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Charles Smith officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral home, Coulterville, IL. on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial Donations may be made to Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL.
