Colleen Blanche Thomas' Obituary
Colleen Blanche Thomas, age 87, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 4:55 a.m. in Rosewood Nursing Home, Swansea, IL. Colleen was born on August 28, 1926 in Coulterville, IL, a daughter to Thomas and Katherine Ann (Rainey) Jones. On November 2, 1946, she married Evan "Jim" Thomas Jr. in the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2000. Colleen was a member of the Grandcote Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL, was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2698 Ladies Auxiliary, Sparta, IL, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 3059, Sparta, IL and the Coulterville Chamber of Commerce. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" during WW II. Colleen was a faithful supporter of the military, veterans and The Ronald McDonald House. Survivors include one son, Jimmy Evan Thomas of Coulterville, IL; three daughters, Katherine (Sherman) Lehr of Oakdale, IL, Carla Thomas of Coulterville, IL and Cindy Lou (Richard) Zanders of Coulterville, IL; seven grandchildren, Kelley Lehr (significant other: John Danos), Kimberly (David) Frazier, Valerie Lehr, Andrea (Brock) Baldwin, Jessica Bozeman-Lauando, Katie Lynn (Joe) Zanders-Keller and Wesley Evan Zanders and six great grandchildren, Nicholas Hagedorn, Claire Foster, Gavin Baldwin, Violet Katherine Lehr, Carmelina Santina Lauando and Kegan Keller. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral services will be held at the Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jim Stark officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Friends may call at Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Colleen Thomas family. Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
