Clifford C. Rettell's Obituary
Clifford C. Rettell, age 77, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away Friday evening, July 27, 2012, at the V.F.W, DuQuoin, IL. Clifford was born February 24, 1935 in Rantoul, IL the son of George Charles and Doris Gwendolyn (Roof) Rettell. Clifford was known to his friends as " Pappy or Sonny". He lived most of his life in the Kankakee and Bourbonnais, IL area. Clifford was united in marriage to Darlene E. LaMontagne on December 31, 1952 in Kentland, Indiana and she survives. Clifford was a construction worker for over 35 years. He loved dancing, playing pool, country music, and cooking. Spending time with friends and family was his passion. Fishing was among his favorite pastimes and living in a home on a lake was a dream that was fulfilled when he and his wife moved to DuQuoin, IL in 2006. Clifford is survived by his wife, Darlene of DuQuoin, IL, sister, Shirley Mook of Orlando, Florida, three daughters, Deborah Rettell (Gene Gulley) of Bourbannais, IL, Cathy Lowe-Foiles of Kempton, IL, and Sheila (Donald) Haggard of DuQuoin, IL, four grandsons, Timothy (Audrey) Lowe, Joshua Lowe, Aaron (Lacie) Haggard and Anthony Gulley, two granddaughters, Miranda Rettell and Afton (Nicholas) Haggard-Reynolds, six great grandchildren, Caitlynn, Timmy, Kalena, Axander, Zane, Caiden and one on the way. Also his faithful dog Candy. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Randy L. Rettell, a brother, Arthur G. Rettell, and a sister, Dorothy J. Crawford. Memorial services will be at the Bradley American Legion, Bradley, IL on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 3:30 pm. Friends may call at the Bradley American Legion on Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm. Clifford's wishes were to be cremated. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Rettell Family.
