Clifford M. Gregory, Sr.'s Obituary
Clifford M. Gregory, Sr., age 79, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 5:05 a.m. in Fairview Nursing Center, DuQuoin, IL. Clifford was born on March 30, 1931 in Mulkeytown, IL, a son to Lester and Effie (Jones) Gregory. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War and obtaining the rank of corporal. On June 21, 1952, he married Lettie L. Stanhouse and after over 50 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on September 19, 2004. In his lifetime, he was a coal miner and electrician and retired from Captain Mine. He was a member of the First Christian Church, DuQuoin, IL, where he served as a deacon and an elder, as well as a 30 year member of the American Legion, DuQuoin, IL. Clifford was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting and reading, especially the bible, and dearly loved his family. Survivors include his children, Clifford (Doris) Gregory, Jr. of DuQuoin, IL, Rex (Rose) Gregory of DuQuoin, IL, Randy (Jaci) Gregory of Tamaroa, IL, Tammy (Danny) Foster of DuQuoin, IL, Stacey (Terry) Arnett of Dowell, IL and Mark (Paige) Gregory of Sunfield, IL; a sister, Shirley Harland of Christopher, IL; fifteen grandchildren, Patricia (Brian) Winters, Sr., Jon (Peyton) Gregory, Diana (Anthony) Howell, Joshua (Sarah) Gregory, Avery Arnett, Nolan Gregory, Gregory Arnett, Landry Arnett, Katelyn Gregory, Kylie Gregory, Kendra Gregory, Alison (Joe) Borowski, Kari (Chris) Cretini, Amber (Josh) Cranford, and Ryan Foster; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Morgan, Brian Jr., and Patrick Winters, Connor Borowski, Korbin, Liam, and Noah Cranford, Makenzie, Mitchell, and Matthew Howell, Ava Gregory, and Taylor and Chase Coultier. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and an infant sister, Naomi. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Rob Rixman officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL. Military graveside rites will be provided by the DuQuoin V.F.W. and American Legion. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church, DuQuoin, IL.
