Charles VanSant's Obituary
Charles VanSant, 81, of Corning, AR., passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020 at home.
Charles VanSant was born in Sparta, IL, on November 13, 1938. On May 23, 1981, he married NaDean Thomas Carpenter Kehrberg in Sparta, IL. She survives. Charles retired from World Color Press in Sparta, IL after 21 years and Central Duplicating for the State of South Dakota after 10 years. He had also volunteered as an EMT and firefighter. Charles proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his wife and children. Other hobbies included SearchWord and Wheel of Fortune. Charles was an avid Cardinals fan and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and N.A. Hunting Club.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, NaDean VanSant of Corning ,AR; their children, Charlene VanSant of Coulterville, IL, Deborah (Roy) Larsen of Pierre, SD, Pamela (Phil) Steinc of Iron Mountain Lake, MO, Pauletta Carpenter of Pierre, SD, Edgar (Loretta) Carpenter of Fredericktown, MO, Phillip (Lori) Carpenter of Ironton, MO, Vivian Vansant of Sparta, IL and Desiree Carpenter of Pierre, SD; thirty-four grandchildren; fifty-six great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Otis Tucker and his favorite cat, Leo.
He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Dean VanSant; parents, William Horace and Mozelle (Chism) VanSant; brothers, Tom, Milton, Robert, Gene, and Ray VanSant; an infant sister; grandsons, Eric Buman and Jonathan VanSant; and son-in-law, Larry Smith.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 12:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel, Corning, AR.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
