Charles Curtis "Bud" Sheeler's Obituary
Charles Curtis "Bud" Sheeler, age 89, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021 in New Athens Home for the Aged, New Athens, IL.
Bud was born on August 30, 1931 in Coulterville, IL, a son to William Curtis and Margaret (O'Neill) Sheeler. On June 17, 1967, he married Anna Marie Frederking and she survives. Bud worked at A.O. Smith for 26 years, the Randolph County Jail, and Walmart in the gardening center for 11 years. He was a lifetime member of the Coulterville V.F.W. Post #6865 and the Color Guard Drill Team. He was also a member of the American Legion. Bud was a master gardener with a certificate from the University of Illinois. He had many hobbies that he enjoyed throughout his life. Gardening was his #1 favorite along with sports, walking in the 5K walks, genealogy, and playing trivia. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Anna Marie Sheeler; a daughter, Mary Beth (Philip) Maes of Chester, IL; a grandson, Bryce (Samantha) Williams of Carbondale, IL; two granddaughters, Katie Phelps of Columbia, IL and Maggee Phelps of Coulterville, IL; one brother, Tom (Betty) Sheeler of Belleville, IL; one sister, Joan Hurst of Coulterville, IL; one sister-in-law, Leola Sheeler of Sparta, IL; and his two puppies, Lucy and Chucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Franklin "Frank" Sheeler; and two sisters, Marguerite Menfee and Helen Hood.
A celebration of life will be held at the Coulterville V.F.W., Coulterville, IL on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 12:00 noon.
