Charles C. "Chuck" Evans, Jr., age 63, of Vergennes, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 9:55 a.m.
Chuck was born on September 4, 1958 in St. Louis, MO, a son to Charles Clifford and Carolyn Louise (Schellhardt) Evans. On July 14, 1979, he married Sherida "Sherry" Boggis in DuQuoin, IL and shared 42 years of happiness together. He owned and operated DMS Welding and Machine for over 38 years. Chuck was a member of the United Pentecostal Church, DuQuoin, IL. He enjoyed martial arts and was a third-degree black belt at the Longshore Tae Kwan Do in DuQuoin, IL. Chuck was an amazing craftsman creating from wood, metal, and leather. His meticulous craftsmanship could be easily identified by the quality of the workmanship. He loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Evans of Vergennes, IL; two daughters, Courtney Evans of DuQuoin, IL and Jaymee (Josh) Fleming of Pinckneyville, IL; a daughter-in-law, April (Jed) Elswick of Vergennes, IL; two brothers, Steven (Tina) Evans of Carlinville, IL and Greg (Maggie) Evans of Creal Springs, IL; two sisters, Sandra (Edgar) Nicholson of Signal Mountain, TN and Sharon (Mike) McClain of Vergennes, IL; four grandchildren, Brayden McKinnies, Aubrey McKinnies, Judah Elswick and August Elswick; mother-in-law, Nila Tanner of Carbondale, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Carolyn Evans; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Lennis Boggis; and a son, Lucas Evans.
Funeral services will be held at the United Pentecostal Church, DuQuoin, IL on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dan McKinnies and Reverend Steve Evans officiating. Interment will be in Parrish Cemetery, Vergennes, IL.
Visitation will be at the United Pentecostal Church, DuQuoin, IL on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the Lucas Evans Memorial Scholarship Fund.
