Charles W. Auld's Obituary
Charles W. Auld, age 93, of Nashville, IL, formerly of Oakdale, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 in his home. Charles was born on February 20, 1920 in Oakdale, IL, a son to Ward J. and Elizabeth Jane (Piper) Auld. He was a proud veteran having served in the European Theater during World War II as a radio operator with the military police of the 82nd Battalion 518th regiment of United States Army. On December 26, 1945, he married Pearl Boyle in Oakdale, IL and she survives. He was a farmer and a teacher, having taught first in the one room Gravel Hill School north of Coulterville followed by teaching at the Prest School, Tilden, IL and then at the Nashville Grade School, retiring after 35 years. Charles was a member of the Oakdale Parade Committee, Farm Bureau, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, past board member of the Oakdale Consolidated School and a member of the building committee for the current Oakdale School. He was a regional board member for the Southern Illinois Area on Aging. He was a member of the John C. Atchison American Legion Post 110, Nashville, IL. Charles was a lifelong member of the Oakdale Reformed Presbyterian Church and he was a regular attendee at the Elkton Church, Elkton, IL. The most notable highlight in Charles' life was his love for family and friends, sharing smiles and stories. Survivors include his wife of over 67 years, Pearl Auld of Nashville, IL; two sons, Ronald (Cindy) Auld of Nashville, IL and Veron Auld of Oakdale, IL; three daughters, Rosalee (Larry) Boreup of Nashville, IL, Pamela (Allen) Jacobs of Waterloo, IL and Sara (Patrick) Fahrmann of St. Louis, MO; one brother, Paul (Phyllis) Auld of Hot Springs, AR; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Patton of Nashville, IL; a son-in-law, Wayne Collmeyer of Waterloo, IL; ten grandchildren, Rebecca (Patrick) Wiese of Scottville, MI, Heather Boreup of Hopkins, MI, Eric (Amanda) Boreup of Anna, IL, Jennifer (Mason) Boyer of Middletown, IL, Christina (Joe) Gibson-Cipfl of Belleville, IL, Andrea (Wesley) Kuergeleis of Waterloo, IL, Matthew (Lori) Collmeyer of Waterloo, IL, Andrew (Mindy) Collmeyer of Hays, KS, Olivia Fahrmann of St. Louis, MO and Benjamin Fahrmann of St. Louis, MO; seventeen great- grandchildren, Autumn Wiese, Hunter Wiese, Reagan Wiese, Hayden Carter, Ava Boreup, Paxton Boreup, Nolan Boyer, Wyatt Boyer, Owen Boyer, Addison, Claire amd Chase Gibson, Jack Cipfl, Noah Heinemann, Sydney Kuergeleis, Jensyn and Avery Collmeyer, and Max and Chloe Collmeyer; and several dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda Collmeyer; one sister, Margaret Patton and a brother, William Auld. Funeral services will be held at Oakdale United Presbyterian Church, Oakdale, IL on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Ron Mazander and Reverend John Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Oakdale, IL with military graveside rites provided by John C. Atchison American Legion Post 110, Nashville, IL. Friends may call at Oakdale United Presbyterian Church, Oakdale, IL on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Elkton Union Church or Oakdale Cemetery.
