Catherine Miller Catherine Miller, age 88, widow of the late Frank E. Miller, daughter of the late John and Rose (Bradley) Helmer, and mother of the late Msgr. Thomas Miller, of DuQuoin, IL, died Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 5:45 a.m. in Fairview Nursing Home, DuQuoin. Catherine was born in DuQuoin, IL on December 22, 1917, the daughter of John and Rose (Bradley) Helmer. She married Frank E. Miller and he preceded her in death. Catherine was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DuQuoin, IL and the Catholic Daughters of America. She worked at the Marshall Browning Hospital for numerous years. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Schley of Caseyville, IL, a grandson, John Degler of Carbondale, IL, 2 great-grandchildren, Christia and Meghan Degler of Murphysboro, IL, and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Father Tom Miller. A funeral mass will be held in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DuQuoin, IL on Monday, July 3, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home in DuQuoin, IL on Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. The family wishes that memorial donation be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, School or Cemetery.
