Carrol Adcock's Obituary
Carrol Adcock, age 85, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 8:13 p.m., in Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, IL.
Carrol was born on April 12, 1940, in DuBois, IL, a son to Herbert and Fae (Lynch) Adcock. In May of 1964, he married Mary Jane Romer in Washington D.C. Carrol later married Margaret Krisher on June 8, 1974, in St. Bruno Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Carrol worked as an Equipment Operator at Burning Star #2 Consolidated Coal Company for over 20 years. Carrol enjoyed coaching basketball, photography, and woodworking. He also was an enthusiastic book reader of military history and westerns. Carrol loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. Carrol was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and a Washington Commanders Football fan. He was a proud member of the Eagles, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Carrol honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Cold War.
Survivors include his two sons, Christopher Adcock of Pinckneyville, IL, and Daniel (Teresa) Adcock also of Pinckneyville, IL; three daughters, Mary Katherine (Kenneth) Stoner of Carterville, IL, Sarah Kemme of Pinckneyville, IL, and Jo C (Ryan) Summers of Pinckneyville, IL; one brother, Gary (Loretta) Adcock of Tamaroa, IL; one sister, Marla Boester of Nashville, IL; one sister-in-law, Edie Adcock of Virginia; twelve grandchildren, Caleb Adcock, Cassie Adcock, David Stoner, Nile Adcock, Olivia Dill, Ava Adcock, Jacqueline Dill, Marlei Summers, Madelyn Dill, Owen Adcock, Thaddeus Kemme, and Aurora Kemme; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Mary Jane Adcock; three brothers, Wendell, Donald, and his twin brother Terrel; three sisters, Brenda Adcock, Mary Jane James, and Beverly Chapman; one daughter Julie Adcock, one sister-in-law, Joann Adcock; and brother-in-law Eddie James.
Memorial service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Deacon Tony Kellerman officiating. Inurnment will be held at Mueller Hill, Pinckneyville, IL. Military honors will be performed by the United States Navy and the Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post 2504.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Bruno Athletics or to Pinckneyville High School Baseball.
